IAEA: Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant completes drilling of water wells to cool shutdown reactors and spent nuclear fuel
Ten water wells have been completed at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP to cool down the shutdown reactors and spent nuclear fuel.
This is stated in the IAEA report.
Another one is to be drilled within two months to provide 250 cubic metres of water per hour to maintain the cooling of the reactors and spent fuel pools.
ZNPP units 2 and 5 remain in cold shutdown, while unit 6 is in hot shutdown.
The IAEA team did not observe any heavy weapons during their walkdowns but confirmed that the previously reported mines remained in place.
It will be recalled that the IAEA experts did not find explosives during the inspection of the roofs of the reactor buildings of ZNPP units 3 and 4.
