Denmark allocates DKK 91 million to strengthen Ukraine's cyber defence and IT
Copenhagen, Denmark (Svidomi) — The Danish Ministry of Defence is allocating DKK 91 million, equivalent to more than USD 10 million, for Ukrainian Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence cyber defence projects.
Denmark will allocate these funds for Ukraine as part of the so-called IT Coalition, led by Estonia and Luxembourg. The cooperation agreement was signed at the 18th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group in the Ramstein format on January 23.
The IT Coalition itself was created in June 2023 following the thirteenth Ramstein. Estonia and Luxembourg are the coalition's leaders, and Belgium, Denmark, Iceland, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, and Latvia are also part of the coalition. The UK and Italy have announced their intention to join.
The Danish Ministry of Defence noted that this is not the first time that funds have been transferred to support cyber defence and critical IT infrastructure in Ukraine.
"Since the beginning of the invasion, Denmark has made a significant contribution to Ukraine's fight for freedom, including in the cyber sphere. We have made several donations to support cyber defence and critical IT infrastructure in Ukraine. So it is also natural that we contribute to supporting Ukraine in an area where we are already actively working," said Danish Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen.
