China's embassy to Russia criticises treatment of Chinese blogger at border

The Chinese Embassy in Russia has criticised the actions of Russian border guards for the treatment of a Chinese blogger who was interrogated for four hours.

This is stated in the embassy's statement.

On July 29, four Chinese citizens wanted to enter Russia from Kazakhstan. Among them was an influencer who was interrogated by the Russians for four hours. Border guards did not allow the Chinese to enter. Their tourist visas were also cancelled.

The embassy called these actions "wild" and "excessive". Diplomats held consultations with the Russian Foreign Ministry, the FSS and the Border Guard Service. Russia assured that this case was exceptional and not in line with general practice. At the same time, the embassy called on Chinese citizens to report if they find themselves in similar situations in Russia.

"This is not in line with the general situation of friendly Sino-Russian relations and the trend of increasingly close friendly exchange of personnel between the two countries. The Russian side should immediately find out the cause of the incident, take active measures to eliminate the bad influence and ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future," the statement reads.
