Cherkasy Regional Military Administration calls on Hasidic Jews to refrain from visiting Uman

The authorities of the Cherkasy region have called on Hasidic pilgrims to refrain from visiting Uman to celebrate Rosh Hashanah.

This was reported by the Head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, Ihor Taburets.

On September 15-17, there will be a celebration of Rosh Hashanah, the holiday of the beginning of the new year for those professing Judaism.

"At the same time, we understand that some believers, like last year, will still decide to come. Therefore, together with the city authorities, the security and defence sector, and all relevant services, we are already working preventively," the RMA said.

On August 8, a special commission meeting was held in Cherkasy with the participation of the Deputy Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Ukraine, Liron Finkelstein.

Currently, the regional authorities are coordinating security measures. Like last year, they will be strengthened; however, details will be announced later.
