A terrorist attack in Brussels. Two people killed

An unknown man fired at people in Brussels, Belgium, killing two.

The Brussels Times and RTBF report this.

The dead are two Swedes. On October 16, a football match between the national teams of Belgium and Sweden was to take place.

The incident occurred on October 16 at around 7:15 p.m. local time. A video taken by an eyewitness shows a man in a bright orange jacket and white helmet holding an automatic rifle and climbing onto a scooter to flee the scene.

Media reports say that the alleged attacker posted a video in which he called himself a supporter of the Islamic State and spoke of "killing infidels" and "revenge for Muslims". According to RTBF, the attacker is 45 years old and of Tunisian descent.

The Belgian Prime Minister confirmed during a press conference that the attacker was in Belgium illegally. In fact, he applied for asylum in 2019 but was denied. In addition, the man was involved in human trafficking. The police identified him as a threat to state security.

The police have already detained the attacker. He is now in intensive care.
