A car with collaborator Serhii Moskalenko explodes in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region

Moskalenko was a collaborator from the temporarily occupied Nova Kakhovka who was directly involved in the torture of illegally detained Ukrainian citizens. Residents believe that other members of the temporary occupation administration could have killed him.

Residents of Nova Kakhovka informed the Nova Kakhovka City newspaper.

In May 2022, Moskalenko passed information about activists and veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war from Nova Kakhovka to the Russians.

He later took over the local detention centre, turning it into a torture chamber.

"Detainees were beaten and tortured with electric shocks. And every night, the Russian military and local collaborators would take the prisoners to the basement, put them against the wall and shoot them with a pistol. They tried to shoot above the head or near the ears. They did the same with me. After these shots, I had a lot of noise in my ears, and I could hardly hear anything. They shot some prisoners for real," a resident of Nova Kakhovka, held in the torture chamber in the spring of 2022, told the Centre for Investigative Journalism.

Locals believe that Russians organised the explosion. Moskalenko allegedly had conflicts with the temporary occupation administration over the theft of local property without the permission of its leadership.
