22 people wounded in Russian missile attack on Poltava. Russians shelled 11 regions of Ukraine over the past day
According to the Situation Centre of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, on June 17, Russian troops shelled the territory of 11 regions of Ukraine. The Russian army attacked 77 settlements and 95 infrastructure facilities.
At night, Russian troops fired ten Shahed-131/136 combat drones at Ukraine. Air defence forces downed all drones within the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
On June 17, Russian troops hit civilian infrastructure in Poltava, central part of Ukraine, with an X-59 cruise missile. 22 people sought medical assistance, including three children. Several multi-storey buildings, a kindergarten, power lines and garages suffered damage.
In the Luhansk region, almost completely occupied by Russia, the Russian army conducted airstrikes on Makiivka and Nevske. Moreover, Stelmakhivka, Kuzemivka, Nevske and Makiivka also came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Donetsk region, which has been partially occupied since 2014 and is located on the frontline in the east of Ukraine, the Russians targeted Zalizne, Chasiv Yar, New York, Vovchenka, Vodiane Druhe, Zvanivka, Zoria, Katerynivka and Myroliubivka. Eleven residential buildings, a shop and a warehouse were destroyed. In Zvanivka, an airstrike killed a civilian and damaged four private houses. Another civilian was wounded in Chasiv Yar.
In the Kherson region, south of Ukraine, partially occupied since 2022, the Russian troops shelled Antonivka, Prydniprovske, Zarichne, Novotianka, Yantarne, Kizomys, Stanislav, Sofiyivka, Shyroka Balka, Inzhenerne, Sadove, Beryslav, Mykolayivka, Burhunka, Osokorivka, Havrylivka and the city of Kherson. Two people were killed. Houses, private cars and critical infrastructure sustained damage.
In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, the Russians launched 21 guided aerial bombs in the Vovchansk, Lipetsk and Kharkiv communities over the past 24 hours. One person was injured in the village of Borivska Andriivka as a result of the shelling. A house was damaged in Kharkiv.
In the Zaporizhzhia region in the south, partially occupied in the south since 2022, Russians targeted Huliaipole, Levadne, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka, and Novoandriivka with aircraft, UAVs, MLRS and artillery. There were seven reports of residential damage. No civilians were injured.
The Russian army shelled Voznesenskyi and Mykolaiv districts in the Mykolaiv region in the south of Ukraine. In Dmytrivka, a private house was damaged and a 69-year-old woman sustained injuries. A private house was damaged in the village of Solonchaky. The Russians also fired mortar shells at the water area of the Ochakiv community.
In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russians fired 21 times at the border areas and settlements of the region. There were 71 explosions in Mykolaivka, Khotin, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Esman, Yunakivka, Velyka Pysarivka and Seredyna Buda communities. There is no information on casualties or damage.
On June 17, three people were injured in the Dnipropetrovsk region, southcentral Ukraine, after artillery shelling of Nikopol, next to the temporarily occupied Enerhodar, where Zaporizhzhia NPP is located. A Russian Shahed was downed in the Dniprovskyi district. The attack damaged private houses and cars. A five-storey building, private houses, an enterprise, outbuildings, a car and a power line were destroyed in the Nikopol and Marhanet communities after the shelling.
In the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, the Russian troops fired mortars at Bleshnia, Leonivka and Hremiach. Fifteen explosions were recorded. No casualties or damage were reported.
