87 Ukrainian rescuers are to be sent to Türkiye to help with earthquake relief efforts

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has issued a decree to this effect.

The rescuers will be sent to Türkiye by An-32 and An-26 aircraft and by road.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and expressed condolences over the tragedy.

"I informed him of the decision to send a group of rescuers and equipment from Ukraine to Türkiye to help in the aftermath of the emergency. Ukrainian specialists have relevant experience in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and will arrive in the affected regions as soon as possible," Zelenskyy wrote.

As a reminder, on February 6, an earthquake with a magnitude of more than 7 points occurred in southern Türkiye. The earthquake was also felt in Cyprus, Lebanon and Syria. Aftershocks were also felt in several other countries.
